For those residents that have used Witham train station in recent months, you may have noticed the ongoing works on the south side of the station.
I have been speaking with Greater Anglia and the contractors on site to provide an update for residents. Unfortunately, the large scale plans to transform the station, including moving the ticket hall to the south side, have been pushed into the next financial year (April 2023/24) by the Department for Transport.
However, phase one which included reenforcing the south bank and preparing the ground are now complete. It is expected that the pictured section of the car park will come back into operation at some point this week once sign-off has been achieved.
There will also be some bike racks available on site which cyclists have been without in recent months. Use of these will be monitored and if more are required additional racks will be considered.
Greater Anglia are also working on a planning application with Braintree District Council to improve the traffic flow of cars which, particularly at rush hour, has a negative effect on Easton Road and Collingwood Road.
